USADSF Announces Open Call for Applicants for the 2027 Winter Deaflympics Committee

21th Winter Deaflympics | Innsbruck-Seefeld-Tirol, Austria | 15-24 January 2027


BUCKEYSTOWN, MD (July 28, 2025) -- The USA Deaf Sports Federation announces an open call for Team Leader applications to join the Team USA Committee at the 21st Winter Deaflympics in Innsbruck, Austria, in January 2027. To apply, please email your expression of interest and your resume/CV to info@usdeafsports.org with the subject line: 2027 Winter Deaflympics Committee. Selected applicants will be invited to interview with members of the Board. This is a volunteer position.

Qualifications

  • Display strong administrative, communication, and organizational skills

  • Have prior experience with international sports events

  • Possess a valid passport that does not expire until at least six months after the conclusion of the Games

  • Provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or obtain an approved exemption waiver as a requirement to be considered for the position

  • Pass a NCSI Background Check

  • Be available to work with the Team USA Committee in the months leading up to the Games, for the entire duration of the Games, and post-Games debriefing

  • Demonstrated experience with fundraising and budgeting

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in American Sign Language.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate accommodations for each National Sport Organization and Committee, including verifying all lodging and dietary needs are met

  • Work with the USADSF Executive Board to coordinate the organization chart of the U.S. Deaflympic Team

  • Serve as the on-the-ground point of contact for all logistical matters, including, but not limited to: accommodations, transportation, interpreting, scheduling volunteers, and other activities as necessary.

  • Promote the goodwill of the games by fostering a positive environment for all USA athletes and promote adherence to the USADSF Code of Conduct.

  • Be available at all times to respond to and triage inquiries on a daily basis and report issues needing attention to appropriate parties

  • Lead and facilitate daily debrief meetings with Team Leaders of each sport

  • Participate in monthly meetings and workshops with members of the USADSF Board

  • Serve as a key communicator and liaison among USADSF NSOs, NSCs, athletes, staff, volunteers


Expectations

  • Be available to begin in September 2025, and to meet with the Chef de Mission on a biweekly basis and as needed.

  • Work effectively with USADSF and Team USA Committee to coordinate the logistics, including fundraising, media, etc. as part of the preparation for Team USA’s delegation in the Winter Deaflympics Work with USADASF to organize the Team USA Delegation during the 21st Winter Deaflympics, including but not limited to providing delegation leadership, maintaining Team USA correspondence and meetings, attending technical/leadership meetings, and communicating with

  • Team USA, NSOs, and USADSF.

  • Implement the chaperoning and supervision of athletes

  • Undergo a NCSI background screen

  • Be familiar with the World Anti-Doping Code and uphold the principles of clean sport.

  • Successfully complete the appropriate U.S. Center for SafeSport’s online training module(s) within 45 days of selection; be fully eligible to participate by the U.S. Center for SafeSport

  • Be prepared to travel to the Games site with Team USA and be available for the entire duration of the 21st Winter Deaflympics until the Team’s arrival back to the States


Time Commitment

Candidates should expect to spend anywhere between 5-15 hours on most weeks, and as many as 30 hours a week during peak periods. This position will close with a debrief report and meeting in February 2027.

USADSF is a member of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD), the Pan-American Deaf Sports Organization (PANAMDES), and the Affiliate Organizations Council of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC).
