USADSF Board Community Award - Selection Criteria

Qualifications for the Award

  • Demonstrates outstanding support of USADSF activities
  • Supports and promotes the USADSF mission
  • Promotes gender equality and empowerment of Deaf women and girls
  • Contributes time, is dedicated, and committed with the intention of making a significant impact
  • Contributes to USADSF through partnerships or cross collaborative work

  • Criteria

  • Priority is given to deaf individuals, deaf owned or deaf-run organizations, schools, institutions, or programs that meet the purpose of the award
  • May not have received monetary compensation for such performance

  • Award Guidelines

    Nomination of Candidates:

    The USADSF Board Community Award is nominated by members of the current Board. Nominations shall include:

    • A cover letter and/or ASL video summarizing the nominee’s qualifications, not to exceed 300 words/3 minutes.

    • Supporting materials, including the current email address of the nominee.

    • Nominations may not be anonymous. However, the nominator’s name shall not be disclosed.

    • Incomplete nominations will not be considered.

    • Self-nominations will not be considered.


    Election of Candidates

    Elections for this award shall be held in odd-numbered years in the month of August and awarded in the month of September.

    Summaries and ballots are prepared by the USADSF Awards Committee and distributed among the USADSF Board members.

    • The USADSF Board Community Award is to be voted on by USADSF Board members


    Voting Procedures

    • All awards must meet the quorum of 75% of the eligible voters for that specific award.

    • The award winner must receive more than 75% of the votes from the voters.
