Ukraine Repeats as Champions at 2011 EDSO Volleyball Championships

ANTALYA, TURKEY – Ukraine’s powerhouse volleyball teams in both genders continued their golden streak at the 8^th European Deaf Sports Organization (EDSO) volleyball tournament, which was held on 12-21 May 2011 in Antalya, Turkey.

In the men’s group, Ukraine men swept Russia in three sets, and Turkey defeated Germany 3-0 for the bronze.  The Ukrainian women used the same broom to defeat Italy, 3-0.  Russia won a 3-1 match against Belarus in the women's bronze medal match.  Ten men’s and nine women’s teams participated.

Note: Ukraine men’s and women’s volleyball teams along with the men’s team from Russia will travel to the United States to participate in an invitational tournament at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC during the week of July 31-August 6, 2011.  For more information about the 2011 Volleyball Friendship Games, please click “2011 Friendship Games” in the menu bar above.
