Rules

The general competition regulations are as follows:

  1. The current edition of the FIVB rulebook shall be used, and the English text shall prevail.
  2. Jerseys must be numbered from 1 to 20. (Rules of the Game 4.3.3)
  3. Where a team chooses to have more than twelve (12) players, it is compulsory for the team to designate from among the list of players on the score sheet two (2) specialized defensive players: “Liberos”. (Rules of the Game 19.1.1)
  4. The player’s number shall be repeated on the right leg of the shorts. The number must be of 4 to 6 cm in height and the stripe forming the numbers shall be a minimum of 1 cm in width. (Rules of the Games 4.3.3.2)
  5. The colour and the design for the jerseys, shorts and socks must be uniform for the team (except for the Libero). The uniforms must be clean. Shoes that are predominantly black are forbidden. (Rules of the Games 4.3.1/4.3.2)

The competition format is pool play, followed by a single-elimination playoff.

After pool play is concluded, the first place team (P1) will compete against the fourth place team (P4), and the second place team (P2) will compete against the third place (P3) team.  The winners will advance to the 1-2 place match (the "finals"), and the losers will advance to the 3-4 place match.

Pre-Game Protocol

0:60 minutes prior to match time - Teams warm up on their own side of the court.

0:30 - Official start of pre-game protocol.  Teams continue to warm up on their own side of the court.

0:12 - Net check by referees.

0:11 - Coin toss with captains of both teams.  Captains discuss and come to an agreement on either 10-minute shared court warm up or 5-minute own court warm up per team.  If they do not agree, the 10-minute shared court warm up choice shall prevail.

0:10 - Both teams warm up on shared court or one team warm up on whole court (5 minutes each).
