Deaf Swimmer Competes at U.S. Olympic Trials Monday June 25

As the Olympic trials have begun this weekend for many sports, the United States Deaf Swimming (USDS) organization test their patience for Monday June 25th.  USDS member and 2011 United States Deaf Sports Federation Male Athlete of the Year, Marcus Titus, competes in the 100 meter breaststroke on the first day of USA swimming Olympic trials.  All eyes are on Titus, who sits 6th on paper, and the USDS organization will be cheering him on.  

Titus may be seeded in 6th but according to the USA Swimming time search on www.usaswimming.org, he has the second fastest 100 time swum since the new year rang in.  The top two finishers in the final heat will be invited to swim for Team USA in London.  

Titus will be battling 4-time Olympic medalist Brendan Hansen, 2008 Olympian Eric Shanteau and a number of NCAA stars for the trip to 2012 Olympics. 

Titus will first swim in prelims on Monday morning and the top 16 times will proceed for a Monday evening battle for the top 8.  Top 8 finishers will walk on deck for a final heat Tuesday evening on NBC starting at 8PM EST.  (Prelims and Semi-finals may be seen Monday evening on NBC Sports (NBCSN))

Titus will also swim the 200 meter breaststroke later in the week.

Note: U.S. Olympic Trials run from June 25-July2 in Omaha, Nebraska.
