USADSF Weekly Update #6

Hi USADSF community! I hope you are well! Hope the month of May is off to a good start for you. A few updates this week.

ICSD confirmed summer Deaflympics in December 2021. Where? Caixas do Sul, Brazil. We have about one year and half left. The planning and fundraising begins now. This is a great time to get in shape and begin training immediately.

The medical commission made a recommendation statement- They would like to emphasize since a new ICSD competition schedule is coming, it does not mean that team USA would automatically be attending those competitions. The Medical Commission will be reviewing those new dates and communicating with us on their recommendations. Our number one priority is the safety and well being of our USA teams.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 has had a negative impact on the USADSF office. We had to let go a full-time position, the Director of Development, Jeff Wolfe. Jeff’s contribution to US Deaf sports has been amazing and we are very appreciative of his work. It is our true hope we have him back onboard when our economy is better.

Our new website is now live! We are excited with its new look and functionality. The website is still work in progress and we invite any feedback you have.

Hall of Fame nominations are out! Guidelines are on our website under USADSF- Awards- HOF.

We will be sharing with you vlogs/news from our NSO on our social media and website. The first one is Orienteering. Enjoy!
