Taipei 2009 Deaflympics Logo Unveiled
Student’s Design Wins Submission Contest
SIOUX FALLS, SD — January 29, 2009 — The Games Preparation Committee (GPC) has announced the winning design of the logo for the USA Team for the Summer Deaflympics to take place in Taipei, Taiwan in September of 2009.

Designed by Seth Gore |
Among the dozens of submissions, a Gallaudet University student’s design captured the attention of the GPC. Seth Gore of Frederick, Maryland submitted the winning design, a design featuring the ASL-handshape of the city of Taipei, along with the wording "Deaflympics USA" under the fingers and "Taipei 2009" under USA.
Gore, a Gallaudet junior who describes himself as a person who loves to design company logos and other designs at "all hours of the day", won a $150 Visa gift card from USADSF.

Designed by Darin Turner |
The Games Preparation Committee also selected a second logo, designed by Darin Turner, a multimedia teacher at the Indiana School for the Deaf.
Turner’s logo, which will primarily be used on team pins and other souvenir items, features the silhouette of the world’s tallest building, Taipei 101, set on black background.
