Burger and Mauldin Appointed to Games Preparation Committee

SIOUX FALLS, SD — May 31, 2007 — The USA Deaf Sports Federation has announced the selection of William Mauldin and Brianne Burger to the Games Preparation Committee.

William Mauldin, 36, of Madison, Wisconsin has been selected as the Team Leader of the US Team that will participate in the Summer Deaflympics next September 2009 in Taipei, Taiwan. He has an extensive management experience as a Program Director of the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay services. He had previously worked for CSD in Dayton, Ohio and JP Morgan in Wilmington, Delaware. The breadth of his various management experiences gives him a strong foundation upon which to assist in leading the US Team.

Billy was an alternate member of the US Soccer team that went to the Summer Deaflympics in 1997. He is an avid golfer and participates in flag football and basketball. He was the co-chairperson of the 2004 CAAD Softball tournament.

He is a graduate of Model School for the Deaf and graduated from Gallaudet University with a BS degree in Business Administration with management emphasis. He currently resides in Madison, WI with his wife and four children.

Brianne Burger, 26, of Washington, D.C., originally hailed from Boston and New York City, has been selected as Operations Specialist. She won a silver medal in 400M Medley Relay at the 2007 Summer Deaflympics in Melbourne where she competed in 5 different events. By assuming one of the three new GPC positions, she will take an assignment to coordinate logistics and fundraising activities for all the US Teams that will participate in the international competitions.

She grew up mainstreamed in Massachusetts and received her B.A. degree in Communication Studies from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) in 2002 along with an M.S. in Administration and Supervision from Gallaudet University in 2006. She is currently employed at Gallaudet University as a Grants Specialist/Program Manager for a national project funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

She brings to this assignment fresh perspective and a winning attitude that will inject innovation into the operations and planning of the US Teams. She will work with the US Team that will travel to the Pan American Deaf Games in Valencia, Venezuela.
