Applications for Coaching Positions for the USA Men's and Women's Teams to the 2007 World Deaf Basketball Championships Are Now Being Accepted

SIOUX FALLS, SD — May 31, 2006 — The USADSF Basketball Ad Hoc Committee is seeking Basketball coaches (one head coach and one assistant coach for Men’s and Women’s National Teams).

Head Basketball coaches are expected to participate in the following events:

  • The National Basketball Team Trials in Washington, DC on July 26-30, 2006.
  • The World Deaf Basketball Championships in Guangzhou, China on June 20-30, 2007.

Assistant Head Basketball coaches are expected to participate in the following events:

  • The National Basketball Teams Trials in Washington, DC on July 26-30, 2006
  • The World Deaf Basketball Championships in Guangzhou, China on June 20-30, 2007.
  • The 2007 Pan Am Games in Venezuela tentatively scheduled for August 2007. Note: Assistant Head coaches will function as Head Coaches at the Pan Am Games.

Successful candidates should have the ability to communicate with deaf and hard of hearing athletes and are fluent in sign language.

All applicants for coaching positions must submit a resume, a letter of interest, three references and a criminal background check report to the USADSF Basketball Ad Hoc coach selection committee by June 16, 2006.

USADSF is recognized by the International Committee for Sports of the Deaf (ICSD) as the sole national governing body of deaf sports in the United States. The International Olympic Committee recognizes ICSD as having oversight of the Deaflympics and international competitions for the deaf and hard of hearing.
