USADSF announces official 2005 U.S. Deaflympic Team
Dear all participants and supporters --
I am thrilled to introduce the official roster of the U.S.
Team that will compete at the 2005 Deaflympics in Melbourne, Australia, January 5-16. I believe this is the most dedicated group of athletes and coaches we have ever taken to this premier international sports event. All have worked hard in preparation for the top level competition and have achieved their fundraising goals. USADSF, an all-volunteer organization, reduced the fundraising burden by $3,000 for each athlete.
What is truly telling about the spirit of the U.S. team is the volunteers -- coaches, trainers, and many others. They're willing to give up lots of vacation time and work pay and cover expenses to have the pleasure and honor of supporting the athletes. Their unwavering commitment is inspiring.
I am very proud to be part of this team delegation. I look forward to the effort to bring home as many medals as possible and to represent the U.S. with pride and stellar sportsmanship. More than 3,000 athletes from 80-plus countries will vie for the medals.
High fives,
Bobbie Beth Scoggins
