1. When will the 16th Winter Deaflympics begin official competition?

  • Official competition kicks off with the hockey game between Russia and USA on Friday, February 2nd, 2007 at 11:00 AM.

2. Will each sport have competition every day?

  • No. The competition schedule can be found at event.htm.

3. What sports do the 16th Winter Deaflympics feature?

  • Alpine skiing, cross country skiing, curling, ice hockey and snowboarding.

4. What does a combo ticket include?

  • The combo ticket includes admission to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, farewell party and all sporting events.

5. How much is a combo ticket?

  • Combo tickets cost $168 for adults and $93 for children up to 12 years old. There are no discounts.

6. Will there be ground transportation between the hotels and the Park City slopes/Soldier Hollow skiing venue?

  • Yes, there will be self-pay ground transportation between Little America Hotel and the Park City and Soldier Hollow competition venues. You can make transportation reservations either through the www.2007deaflympics.org website or at the 16th Winter Deaflympics transportation desk in the Little America Hotel. However, it is strongly reccomended that you rent a self-drive vehicle. 7. Where is the best place to socialize with other fans?

  • Hockey games and the headquarter hotel are famous for socializing, and there will be social events during the nights.

8. I can't afford to stay at the Little America Hotel. Are there any other hotels in the immediate vicinity?

  • Yes. The Sheraton Hotel and Red Lion Inn are a short walk from the Little America Hotel.

9. I plan to fly to Salt Lake City. Can I take a shuttle to the hotel where I'm staying?

  • It depends on the hotel where you are staying. Little America Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, and Red Lion Inn have free shuttle service between the Salt Lake City International Hotel and their hotels.

10. I just want to go to the Opening Ceremony. Are there individual tickets for the Opening Ceremony?

  • Yes. Tickets for the Opening Ceremony cost $17 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets can only be purchased at the box office the evening of the Opening Ceremony.

11. I just want to go to the 16th Winter Deaflympics Expo. How much will it cost?

  • Admission for the 16th Winter Deaflympics Expo is free. Please preregister at www.sorenson.com.

12. What clothes do I need to bring?

  • Salt Lake City is at the foothills of the Wasatch Range, so it has a snowy climate. Bring warm clothes, hats, gloves, and boots. You may also need sunglasses and Chapstick if you go to watch the skiing and snowboarding competitions.

13. Will there be a gathering place where I can meet other deaf people?

  • Yes. Information will be available at the 16th Winter Deaflympics information desk.

14. I won't sleep at the Little America Hotel. Can I still eat there?

  • Yes. People not staying at the Little America Hotel may eat at the hotel Steak House and Cafe. However, due to space limitations, only a very limited number of tickets for the 16th Winter Deaflympics breakfast and dinner buffets will be available to people not staying at Little America Hotel.

15. Can I ski or snowboard in Park City at the same time of the competitions?

  • Yes. You can purchase discount Park City ski lift tickets for $55 (adults) at the 16th Winter Deaflympics ticket booth in Little America Hotel.

16. I will drive. Will directions be provided?

  • Maps to all venues will be provided, in a pull-out section of the program book, which is free with the purchase of a combo ticket.
