Both U.S. Men's and Women's Basketball Teams Win Matching Color Medals - a Silver

Summary
August 12 (full results) : USA 68 - Mexico 59
We were down by 4 points after first half. In second half, we woke up.
We used 2-3 defense to slow their attack. Mexico decided to use full court press but we managed to break the press. Near end of the game, there was a brawl. The result of this brawl, there were five players ejected from the game. We want to give the credit to Mexico for their hard working. USA Men’s Basketball team defeated Mexico, 69 to 58.
August 13 (full results) : USA 57 - Venezuela 70
USA lost to Venezuela by 13 points. Our players had battled to keep closer with Venezuela however; Venezuela had more players to sub while we had only 6 players. Lance was hurt by bad cramp and Jeremy sat out one game. Our players did good job on defensee against them.
Venezuela gave us the credit for the tough competition.
August 14 (full results) : USA 76 - Brazil 51
USA came up slow and allowed Brazil to attack some baskets in the first quarter as we were trailed by 4 points. In the 2nd quarter, USA set the crew to stay closer on the defense zone, playing 2-3. We exploded that Brazil can’t score well and we dashed to score, 22-6 run. After the halftime, we had never looked back and continued to dominate the game.
Coach Gerald Brown said, “After we lost to Venezuela, we finally played as a team.” Brazil hadn’t quitted and continued to play against us.
Lance Gonzalez had 20 points. Chris Khanayan contributed his 19 points. Josh Sechman played his best game of the week with 12 points.
August 15 (full results) : Columbia 38 - USA 73
USA gave a full-court pressure against Columbia in the first half and sent them back 29 miles away, 37-8. The whole second half, Columbia started to gear up their tempo as USA started to decline slowly but continued to stay ahead of them.
Coach Gerald Brown said, “I am very impressed of how we played defensively against Columbia and allowed them to score only 8 points in the first half.”
Jeremy Thrush had his best game ever and scored 25 points. Daniel Rodriguez also had a terrific game with 11 points. Lance Gonzalez had 14 points.

Summary
August 12 (full results) : USA 35 - Mexico 37
Christine Rowinski’s 12 points and Kristen Poulson’s 8 points were not enough to win against the Mexico women team. The USA women basketball came short against new and improved Mexico team.
August 13 (full results) : Venezuela 68 - USA 44
US women team lost to Venezuela on Monday at the Pan Am games. US Women had a spectacular start with all the women. The game was quick with many fast breaks from both sides. US seemed to lag behind Venezuela after being unable to break the press. Coach Ida Dotson said, “The team played their hearts out”.
